Week 10
Week in Review
Monday March 4, 2019
Today, we in the Spring Class of 2019 had our weekly Toastmasters class. Toastmasters International is a class where participants give speeches, in a formal setting, in front of their peers. Their peers then critique the speeches with the goal of helping those speaking to become better public speakers.
The speeches themselves can be on a wide variety of topics, and each speaker is evaluated by his peers. The general purpose of this is to give positive feedback and to encourage our brothers on what they should work on. Today’s speeches were upbeat and uplifting. People spoke on having a vision for their lives, being properly prepared, having goals and what their future may hold. Every speech was meant to encourage and inspire, and that is exactly what they did.
The name that our class chose, Conquerors of Spring ’19, is a fitting title. We have all managed to conquer our fears and are constantly being transformed in order to become the caliber of men that we were created to be.

Class started with an explosion of energy as we started the photo shoot for our business cards and began our journey of planning for our future endeavors. Our Servant-Leaders are always there to empower us with every speech and video that we view. We are learning to be men of vision, preparing a new foundation to stand on once we are released. With all of the tools that PEP is bestowing upon each and every one of us, we can reach for the stars. And reach we will. No longer will old wounds or habits handicap any of us. We are becoming authentic businessmen. Each of us are truly blessed to be able to participate in this program. There is nothing holding any of us back, except our old attitudes and behavior. However, since we are now the Conquerors of Spring, not even our pasts can stop us. We are truly becoming the masters of our own destiny. Each of us stands tall and proud, for we know that this is just the beginning.

Today, my brothers and I, known as Conquerors of Spring ’19, attended Mr. Brian T.’s Entrepreneurship class. We have been studying all week long in preparation of our test. After entering the classroom, we began comparing notes and quizzing one another. Once we prayed in, we readied ourselves for the test over Chapter 7. However, we were in for a big surprise; instead, we would take the long-awaited Names Test. It was time to find out how well we knew the names of our fellow classmates. Many of us were relieved to put this test behind us, while others were happy not to be taking the Chapter 7 test.
Once the Name’s Test was over with, we were presented with a PowerPoint presentation on Chapter 7 by our awesome teacher Brian “Super Sidetrack” T. At the end of class, we received our Integrity Selling books, which will instruct us in the art of selling ourselves and our products by employing integrity and honesty. PEP is steadily increasing our workload; still, we know that it is for our benefit. We can all honestly say that PEP is shaping us to become better men.

Today, many of us had computer lab. We are working on programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The Excel program gives us good insight concerning spreadsheets and how they work. It is very useful for keeping track of a business’ finances. We were also shown how we can utilize it to structure our personal finances as well.
Regardless of what type of business we plan to pursue, whether it be manufacturing or distribution, we will find this program to be crucial and a great timesaver. The spreadsheet can breakdown every aspect of our personal and business lives. Some of us also looked into our business projections and were impressed by what we saw. We understand that some adjustments will need to be made, but with the training and tutoring that we are receiving, everything will turn out just fine.

We, the class of Spring ’19, feel that in order to lead a full life, one must remain persistent in pursuing progress. Today was a great day for our PEP brothers housed at the Estes Unit. They have accomplished something truly great: Graduation! We work hard in the Class of Spring ’19, putting one foot in front of the other on this path that will lead to success.
For many of us, having today off had begun to feel like a relief. Then, we remembered that we had homework that is due on Monday, not to mention the chapters on Living in the Village that continues to pile up. Still, we understand that satisfaction and success can only be achieved through hard work and dedication. Everyone in Spring ’19, stay focused and encouraged; we are almost at the finish line. Thank you, PEP!

“Keep your head up. You’ve made it through 100% of your worst days.”

I do not know who the originator of this quote was, but I know who sent it to me. This is one of my favorite quotes because it gives me encouragement when I need it the most. On the days that seem the roughest, I need to hear something that is both factual and cannot be argued against.
When days of despair come upon you and the world around you seems the darkest, remember the following instructions:
Step 1- Put one foot in front of the other.
Step 2- Repeat Step 1.
