Dear Graduation Guests,
Because all TDCJ rules are enforced at graduation, please understand that guests can be pulled out of the check-in line for further screening.
Here are a couple of common reasons that have come up before and simple ways to avoid the issue:
- Setting off the metal detector: if you have metal in your body, you are required to bring a doctor’s note with you to check-in. (And ladies: wearing an underwire bra can set off the metal detector – so if you have a different kind of undergarment you can wear that day, please do so.)
- Suspicion of contraband: as an example, using the restroom across from the visitation room will trigger a second security screening. If you need to use it, it’s there, but you must be rechecked through security immediately after. (I strongly suggest using the restroom right before you arrive.) There will also be a restroom available just outside the gym where we’ll hold the ceremony that afternoon.
I share this with you because “knowledge is power,” and I want you to have what you’ll need to make Friday, October 30th go smoothly.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Blessings,
Laura
