Nervous laughter and sweaty palms were abundant. We have been shown the ropes, and now we were going to try the whole meeting on our own. As the first speaker broke the ice, it was all downhill from there.

The speeches went great; everyone finally settled in and realized it’s just our brothers that we’re presenting to. Even the panel seemed to have a sense of humor after a while. What was really profound is that when we had to evaluate each other, everyone was very helpful and candid with each other.

Two down with eight more to go – by the time this Toastmasters program gets done with us, we’re going to be ready to discuss issues with the president. Keep fighting the good fight, Legends of Fall ’17!

Steven T. Everywhere you looked, the gears of progress and change were in motion. Currently, our class is in the midst of learning the skills of computing the Economics of One Unit (EOUs). This mathematical equation is designed to show the profitability of one unit related to someone’s business. For example, if someone were to own a burger stand, the EOUs would show how much it would cost to produce one hamburger, as well as how much profit would be made from the sale of that one hamburger. The theory behind this sounds relatively simple; however, the actual application can be pretty challenging!

Additionally, many of our PEP brothers have embarked on another path toward challenge and transformation in a more physical atmosphere, called the Health and Wellness class. Daily, committed members attend this class in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle. We push ourselves to develop a stronger body, a clearer mind and an elevated sense of centeredness through this rigorous physical training regime.

Adam K. Every day is a blessing, and today was test day. Around 12:45 p.m., it was time for the “Legends of the Fall” to turn out and bring to the table what we’ve been studying for all week.

What a relief for all the stress and anxiety to go out the door, when we heard those words we love to hear- “time’s up; all tests up in the air.” Our lesson for the day in Bert’s class was about EOUs, or better known as the Economics of One Unit.

On behalf of the “Legends of the Fall,” we would like to thank everyone who is making this PEP journey possible and want to see us succeed. After the past two hectic weeks of cramming for Bert’s test and learning and understanding PEP’s 10 Driving Values by various special guests, it’s been really busy around here.

Some of us utilized this day with catching up on sleep, while others went to recreation morning, noon and evening to enjoy the fresh air that Mother Nature has provided. Let’s not forget the enjoyment of basketball, handball, softball games and the weight machines, for some brothers love to get their fine on.

As for the rest of us, it was an extra day of studying Living in the Village. We then proceeded to have our next lesson on personal finance. After class, some of our brothers that are in Health & Wellness remained in the room to participate in yoga. However, when they’re unsuccessful in doing so, some people get stuck in a rut, because they feel they’re unable to find happiness.
