Week 9
Week in Review
Monday September 4, 2017
Today is Labor Day and we have all been worried about our families and the havoc that Hurricane Harvey has left for our loved ones to deal with. We have been thinking about and praying for everyone affected by the hurricane.
They called outside recreation finally. We have been waiting for the rain to stop and the ground to dry up. Many of us ran a couple miles around the track, got some fresh air and enjoyed the beautiful day. It was definitely refreshing to speak to our brothers that live on different pods and to see how they’ve been managing.
We got back and cleaned up, then we were called out for lunch. We had BBQ beef, sausage, potato salad, BBQ beans, apple crisp, along with pickles and onions. We had a full stomach when we got done. Most of us came back and took a nap and later finished up studying for our Chapter 8 test.

After a chaotic week with the never ending rain and all the flooding due to Hurricane Harvey, then the Labor Day weekend on top of that gave most people a lot of down time. Not for the Legends of the Fall ’17 though! We spent the majority of our time studying, going over flash cards and taking practice tests.
The Legends of the Fall ’17 were called out first thing this morning. We started our week off strong with the Chapter 8 test that was over financial analysis. We have been studying metrics and measurements, which will allow us to see the overall performance of an entrepreneurial business. We also received our study material for the following chapter.
It’s been quite a journey. The Legends are moving closer and closer to the finish line. We have learned and grown so much together that it’s almost unbelievable. Time is flying by, but the experience and time we have all shared will be everlasting.

Today was a typical Wednesday for the Legends of Fall ’17. Bert S. prepared our class for our upcoming test next week. He lectured on Chapter 9, which was over the different types of business ownership. We also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each type of ownership.
Following the Chapter 9 lecture and PowerPoint, we viewed and discussed our previous test scores from the previous chapter as a class. If we had any discrepancies with our grades, we could address them and possibly get them corrected. Once we finished and wrapped up class, we moved to our next order of business.
We were given information about our next PEP event, which is Etiquette Night. We were given some reminders and details about how the event is going to be. Directions were passed out, and then we were dismissed from class after questions and concerns were answered.

Today was a very eventful day. We started the day off early, by getting ready for our Living in the Village class. Little did we know that we were about to get the names test first. We have all been anxiously awaiting this test. It was extremely funny to see everyone panic about having to take the names test.
Overall, the Legends of the Fall did well on the names test. We had plenty of time to prepare, so there was no reason for us not to shine. After the names test, we proceeded to take our scheduled test on Living in the Village, and the majority of us aced that test too.
Lastly, we had a seminar in proper etiquette with a lovely lady by the name of Colleen R, and her presentation was a lot of fun! We learned how to dress, act and eat in a business setting. We also learned about proper etiquette in the wonderful world of dating, which was pretty fun as well. Altogether, today was a great day, and best of all we get to sleep tonight assured that we’re that much closer to being with the ones we love.

Today was our Excellence in Etiquette event at the Cleveland unit. The week prior to this event, we experienced the worst hurricane that has hit Texas in over a 100 years: Hurricane Harvey. To our surprise, the turnout for the event was a success and the morale of the executives was amazing.
As the day began we were all informed by Charles H. how the day was going to go. Once we all had our introductions, it was finally time for dinner, and since most of us had never experienced a formal dinner, our anxiety began to kick in immediately. As the event progressed, everyone started to lighten up and enjoy the moment. Ms. Colleen R. skipped the dessert just to make sure we had what we needed for our jeopardy game. It was wonderful to see the executives go out of their way to support us, even though outside of these gates there is so much tragedy taking place.
The Legends of the Fall ’17 would like to recognize the executives for taking time during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey to sit and enjoy a great event with us. We are beyond grateful for all the support we received from PEP staff and executives. At the end of the day, we saw the love for the program, paired with the love for those in need both inside and out, thanks to the awesome video produced by Brandon G. Not only are we excited for the weeks to come, but we are also more comfortable now than we have ever been after seeing the unconditional love that is shared by both PEP staff and executives. We thank you for yet another successful week.

Let’s say that you created this beautiful wrench to build amazing houses and to also repair those that have been damaged, by turning and fastening bolts. However, this wrench was either unfastening bolts, or it was off trying to do the work of other tools. How much good would that wrench be doing? In some instances, the wrench would probably do more harm than good, right?
Well, that’s exactly how God feels about us when we try to be something we’re not designed to be. I spent the majority of my past destroying and wreaking havoc on the world, when in reality I was created to build and repair. And until I learned what I was meant to do and be, I continued to feel incomplete and empty. All of us are creations of God, and I urge you to find out your purpose in life. Quit trying to swim upstream when you’re meant to float down the river.
